Environment

Environmental quality enhancement has been the goal of all physical improvements being made to the property. The newest shoreline erosion control methods have been used to retard embankment erosion and to protect the wide sand beach. Surface flow from rainwater has been directed into a linked pond system. These measures will reduce the flow of chemicals and sediment into the James River.

In addition, wetland plants are being introduced in shallow areas of the ponds and along the shoreline to purify the run-off from rainfall before it reaches the river. Combined, these environmental improvements will not only help to improve water quality in the James River and the Chesapeake Bay, but will also enhance the natural beauty and river views of each estate.
